Guitar Classes in Goa — Built Around You, Not a Syllabus

Anyone aged 7 and above are welcome to learn guitar at School of Music. We teach complete beginners who have never held a guitar, intermediate players looking to refine their technique, and adults returning to music after years away. Before signing up with the school, we have a short meeting with the parent/s and the child to know what they are looking for, the timings they can work etc. The student does not need any prior experience and no upper age limit.

Yes, you need to carry your guitar to class, because practising on the instrument you'll use at home builds muscle memory faster and helps Rodden tailor advice to your specific guitar. If you don't have one yet, Rodden can guide you on what to buy before your first paid class.

Yes, we do prepare students for graded music examinations when that aligns with their goals. However, our primary focus is performance-based learning—helping students play real music, develop confidence, express themselves creatively, and build strong, practical musicianship. Should a student later choose to pursue an ABRSM or Trinity certification, we are happy to provide the guidance and preparation needed for success. We view examinations as valuable milestones rather than the ultimate objective, with the true goal being a lifelong enjoyment and understanding of music.

• No. Every guitar student at School of Music gets a lesson plan built around them. We do follow certain published books by reputed authors but the syllabus is in no way fixed. A child learning their first chords, a teenager and/or adults working on pop songs and exploring fingerstyle — each follows a different path. Rodden adjusts theory, technique, and song selection to match your level, goals, and musical taste.

Yes, we offer online guitar lessons to students across Goa, India and beyond. Online classes follow the same one-on-one format as in-person sessions, work well for adults, working professionals, and students who cannot attend classes in person. In-person lessons remain the recommended format for young children just starting out.

• Our music school is located at Flat A3, Santana Holiday Homes, Naika Vaddo, Calangute, Bardez, North Goa. The studio is a quiet, dedicated teaching space — easy to find, with parking nearby. Students from Candolim, Anjuna, Mapusa, and across Bardez attend regularly.

Yes, you can book a trial guitar class before committing to monthly enrolment. The trial gives you a chance to meet Rodden, see the teaching space, and confirm the format works for you. Contact us through the form on this page to schedule one.

Generally guitar classes at School of Music for a group class with 5 students in a batch are priced at ₹2,000 per month for 4 sessions, one session a week.

A private class is priced at ₹4800 per month for 4 sessions, one session a week.

Each session/class is 45 minutes long. Payments are taken per monthly basis, to be made in full by the last week of the previous month.
