School of Music offers eight courses under one roof in Calangute — acoustic guitar, classical guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, ukulele, vocals, solfeggio, and music theory. Instrument lessons are one-on-one. Solfeggio and music theory run as small group classes. All courses are taught by Rodden De Souza personally.
03.
Every class at School of Music is taught by Rodden De Souza. He holds ABRSM Grade 5 Theory of Music with distinction, Trinity College London Grade 2 Classical Guitar with distinction, and trained at Kala Academy Goa. He has been performing music in Goa since 1994 and teaching for over 10 years. No assistants, no substitutes — just one teacher.
04.
We accept students aged 7 and above. There is no upper age limit. Rodden teaches children, teenagers, working professionals, and adults returning to music after decades away. Each lesson is shaped around the student's age, level, and goals — no fixed curriculum, no generic class plan.
05.
Instrument classes are ₹4,000 per month for 8 sessions — four instrument lessons plus four theory sessions, each 45 minutes long. Music theory and solfeggio group classes are ₹2,000 per month. Trial classes are available before you commit to monthly enrolment, so you can meet Rodden and see the space first.
06.
Yes, we offer online music classes alongside in-person lessons in Calangute. Online classes follow the same one-on-one format and work well for adults, working professionals, and students living outside Bardez. For young children just starting out, in-person lessons at our Calangute studio are strongly recommended.
07.
No, we do not train students for grade exams. School of Music is performance-based — we teach students to play, sing, and express themselves musically, not to pass tests. If a student later chooses to pursue an ABRSM or Trinity certification, the foundation we build will more than prepare them, but exams are never the goal.
